Healthy Skin

“Beauty is skin deep “is an old saying and we believe it’s somewhat true and why not? Beautiful skin is your biggest compliment for perfection.

Beauty does lie in the eyes of a beholder but maintaining beautiful skin requires a bit of effort. Skin being a protective covering of our body itself needs protection in order to perform its basic function properly. Knowing your skin is the most important factor in keeping your skin going well whether it is normal, dry, and oily or combination type. We can always find branded beauty products like cleansers, moisturizers, toners and scrubs available in the market and if you want to save money for skin care your “kitchen” or “kitchen garden “is the answer. The kitchen always has something very ordinary to keep your skin healthy like milk, yogurt, honey, lemons, rose water, cucumbers or tomatoes to help you take care of your skin.

There are a few basic tasks to be done daily or on a frequent basis to keep our skin healthy and which can be listed as cleansing, toning, moisturizing and scrubbing. The areas to be focused are mainly all exposed areas like face, neck, arms, hands and feet. Face and neck are usually areas of prime importance by all of us.

Sun Block Creams and Lotions:

These give protection against UVA and UVB rays in the sun and give protection against sunburns and harmful effects of sun rays which may lead to skin cancers. Any sun block having SPF 30 or 50 is recommended to be applied 30 minutes before exposure to the sun and repeated after 2-4 hours. Alternatively, an Aloe Vera leaf can do the job if washed, thorns removed, cut into a slice and its gel applied on the exposed areas. It is the best organic sun block with almost no side effects.

Splashing with Luke warm water:

Splashing face with Luke warm water for a few minutes makes you feel fresh almost immediately.

Cleanse and remove all dirt:

Cleanse your skin after applying a cleansing lotion liberally on your face and neck and then removing with soft cotton pads or swabs. Alternatively, take ¼ cup of milk, dip a few cotton swabs in it and remove all dirt of skin with milk dipped swabs.

Tone and make your skin glow:

Toners can help rejuvenate the skin by refreshing the skin at the same time maintaining skin PH and help close the pores to avoid skin become dirty leading to clogged skin pores and development of blackheads. Rosewater or 1part lemon juice with 3parts of water used with well-soaked cotton pads when applied on face and neck and left for a few minutes to dry up will serve the purpose. A thick slice of tomato applied on face and neck not only refreshes the skin but also help in cutting dirt and grease and closing skin pores after a long day of your hectic routine.

Scrub at least once a week:

The Finely granulated scrub can be applied on face and neck once in a week to remove dead cells and rejuvenate skin. Gram flour from your kitchen made into a paste with milk or water can be used as a scrub.

This is a healthy routine for all skin types, do follow and enjoy a clean, glowing,  attractive and flawless skin.
